Unladylike: A Mythopoetic Reclamation of Love is a lyrical collection of poetry and prose exploring love, survival, embodiment, and the journey of returning to the self. Through intimate poems and essays, it maps the emotional terrain between heartbreak and self-discovery, inviting readers into a deeply human exploration of resilience, self-love, and personal transformation. It marks Regina's debut poetry collection, blending poetry, lyrical prose, and aphoristic reflections.
Regina Louise is an American author, child advocate, and motivational speaker, best known for navigating more than thirty foster home placements as a ward of the California Juvenile Court system — an experience that shaped her lifelong mission of turning adversity into authorship. She is the author of three books, two of which have been adapted for film: Somebody's Someone, Someone Has Led This Child to Believe, and Permission Granted: Kick-Ass Strategies to Bootstrap Your Way to Unconditional Self-Love. Her memoir Somebody's Someone inspired the Lifetime movie I Am Somebody's Child: The Regina Louise Story, which was nominated for a 2020 NAACP Award for Best Director.
For more than three decades, Regina has helped people transform adversity into authorship through story, self-inquiry, and radical compassion. She is a senior teacher with the Hoffman Process, guiding conversations about dignity, resilience, and becoming fully oneself. She has received the Christopher Award, the Jordan Award for her work transforming foster care through advocacy and the arts, the Community Service Award for Children and Families from the Seneca Foundation, and the NAIMC Vision Award.
Shirin Aryanpour is the founder of Illuminate Her Path, a platform devoted to empowering women through education, wellness, and authentic community. She is honored to welcome Regina Louise to Mill Valley for an evening of story, poetry, and radical authenticity — creating space for the community to connect around resilience, reinvention, and coming home to oneself.
Come. Connect. Be inspired. An evening of story, poetry, and community with a woman who became her own medicine.
